Obanales is the home-brewing brand of OBAN ALES LIMITED — a Scottish brewery founded in 2009 in PH50 4QP. We no longer sell our own beer. We sell the tools and the calibrated recipes so you can brew yours.

Founded on 25 February 2009 in Argyll, Scotland. Company number SC355617. A small batch brewer feeding pubs along the west coast.
- 2014
The trial cellar
We carve out a back room for one-litre test ferments. Recipes for guests, then for staff. The cellar becomes the soul of the business.
- 2019
The first kit
A regular customer asks for the recipe. We hand-pack a starter kit on the back counter. Three more customers ask. We stop counting.
- 2024
The slow decision
We close the wholesale side and pivot. Going forward we sell only the tools to brew at home, not the beer itself.

Why we stopped selling beer
Selling finished alcohol globally is a maze of excise duty, age verification, courier restrictions and customs declarations. Selling brewing supplies is honest. The person who needs the patience and the calibrated yeast is the brewer at home — not the bar three thousand miles away. We picked the simpler, slower path.
